Paul Bolger has worked extensively with distressed companies on issues ranging from strategy, administration, operations, and finance throughout his career.

A 30 year veteran of commercial banking, Bolger has managed virtually every type of lending activity including asset based finance, commercial real estate and construction lending, small business and corporate lending, equipment leasing, loan workouts, and loan syndications.

Bolger was Executive Vice President of Commercial Real Estate, Large Corporate Lending, and Loan Syndications at Sovereign Bank, the 19thlargest U.S. bank with $85B in assets. From 2004 to 2007, Paul was Sovereign’s Chief Credit Officer and Chairman of the Credit Policy Committee overseeing a $30B commercial loan portfolio.  He began his career at Bank of New England where he held lending positions in the Asset Based Lending and Loan Workout Groups. He later managed the Asset Based Lending, Leasing, and Small Business Groups at BayBank and was the Division Executive for the New England Division of BankBoston’s Asset Based Lending Group.

He was a Founding Partner and the Managing Director of Marathon Investment Partners, a $50M mezzanine fund, where he helped portfolio companies develop strategic plans, raise capital, negotiate bank financing, and arrange trade credit.  He has also worked as an independent business consultant and crisis manager for a number of distressed businesses, helping them evaluate their business strategy and manage their banking and trade relationships.

Paul is past President of the New England Chapter of the Commercial Finance Association, served on the Board of the Boston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association.  He has held leadership positions in civic organizations including the Ron Burton Training Village, United Way, and the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge. Paul has served as a town meeting member and a member of the finance committee in the Town of Reading.

He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Salem State College.

Paul and his wife Claire live in Reading, MA where they raised three sons.
